The Great Mirage

A Great Mirage

*Jeremiah 22:13-17

Eric and Maria vonAnderseck
**Eric and Maria vonAnderseck.
The false apostle and false teacher of the S8W.

In this link we will expose the new website (s8week.com) by the false apostle Eric vonAnderseck. He has now made himself, and his followers into a so-called faith based social service. They are now creating an illusion (a mirage) of health care professionals to lure more unsuspecting and hurting people into their group. We will quote their own words, and compare what they say to the Word and Spirit of God.

This new website is a mirage. A house built on sand. (Mt 7:24-27)

Mirage: 1. An optical illusion.
  2. Something that falsely appears to be real.

What these people are doing is playing house. They have created a false reality that they are able to hide in. This playhouse is called, Second 8th Week Ministries Inc... A Faith Based Social Service For The Wellness of Humanity.
We can all remember when we were children and played house with our friends. Someone got to be the dad, someone the mom, then there were the kids. That is what they are doing, and the internet is the perfect place to create this optical illusion. In this pretend playhouse Eric gets to be the dad (apostle, president, founder, provost, and soon to be Doctor). Maria gets to be the mom (co-founder, vice president, chief operations officer, chief elder, and teacher). And now they are appointing their children positions of importance (please read our link The New False Apostles).

Eric has made himself and his followers sound and look legitimate and professional by giving themselves more titles and positions (playing house). They have even gone so far as to list the activities that they did (before coming to the "apostle") in their local churches to lend credibility to their positions (this they now call "volunterism"). What they are doing here is twisting the truth. Yes, they probably did those things in their churches and communities. But since they have been indoctrinated with Eric's doctrine, they have all denounced the church as being the "false religious system" (this is their own terminology). These people have all badmouthed the churches they were in, and the activities that they did. They talk about how depressed they were, how unfruitful they were, how unfulfilled they were, how they felt so used. So why would they now use the very things that, according to the "apostle", are not accepted by God?...because it is those very things that give them the credibility they need so that people will begin to trust them, and possibly give them money.
By doing this they are proving beyond a doubt that they are deceivers and hypocrites!

The following is just an example of the twisted, confusing language they use. The Bible warns us to beware of people who use lofty, empty, or persuasive words (Eph 5:6, 2Pet 2:18, Mt 23:1-8, 1Thes 2:5-6)

"Why do we have so many disaffected believers? Multi scale analysis points to inherent paradoxes imbedded in faith models that are prophylactic in nature. These present themselves as barriers to rewarding outcome experiences, making faith impotent. Cleric proclivity to set life principle within the context of negative data points and clichés was in direct conflict with essential faith building strategies. A groundswell of resentment began as faith participants grew openly tired of spiritual failure, anxiety, frustration and despair. New programs and worship forms were not going to placate them any longer. Even the ecumenical movement could not overcome the polarizing effect of doctrine and discipline based on incompatible realities. Clerics began to be seen as agents of consequence rather than agents of God; they were seen as persons who carried the inveterate lie of a tradition that removed the people from true faith."

Can anyone even understand this??? This is a perfect example of blowing smoke. The point is; a good teacher will explain things in a simple but intelligent manner, for the sole purpose of teaching a subject. Not pointing to the fact that the teacher is smarter than the student is! All this does is give the teacher a god-like quality to the student, and creates idol worship. Have you ever had someone speak down at you in a conversation? A person that does this is not someone with a humble and contrite heart. They are arrogant and self-righteous. This is but one example of their deeds of the flesh, not the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5).

Look at all of the high and lofty words they use in just that one paragraph:

Multi scale analysis
Inherent paradoxes
Prophylactic
Cleric proclivity
Negative data points
Faith participants
Placate
Polarizing effect of doctrine
Incompatible realities
Inveterate lie

What is the point of using all of these lofty words? Could it be to impress the reader? To make the reader think this man has so much knowledge? That maybe he knows something they don't? Do not fall for it, it is only a trick, a slight of hand.
Read on for more examples from their link "mission statement glossary".

"Some of these terms have been specifically coined by Eric vonAnderseck to bridge the Faith Community's language with the Mental Health Community's language. Some terms are already in existence, but are being retooled for integration purposes."

The word coined/coinage means: an invented word or expression.

Right here Eric is admitting to making up his own words and terminology. This is classic cult behavior. Look at the last sentence... "Some terms are already in existence, but are being retooled for integration purposes." Integration Purposes!!! Into what??? Into his group, that is what that means? If you pay attention, and think about what he is saying, and not get lost in his big words, you will see right through this masquerade.
We strongly want to make this point... Eric's made up, and "retooled" words are not the bridge between anything!!! They are only brainwashing techniques. Jesus Christ and the good news of His gospel is the only bridge needed for anything!
It is very apparent that this false apostle actually thinks that the words he has made up will bring together the carnal mind (mental health) and the faith community??? How can made up and "retooled" words bring anything together? Eric, again in his self- righteous arrogance (deeds of the flesh, Gal 5), has forgotten the most important thing. The only bridge between cultures, customs, languages, countries, and continents is Jesus Christ and His gospel. The only bridge between communities, groups of people, race, creed, and color is Jesus Christ and His gospel.
This is one more fact that proves Eric is a false apostle.
What real Apostle in the bible ever masqueraded around as a faith based social service? We believe, beyond a doubt, that if anyone who is with this false apostle would actually take the time and compare Eric to the apostles of the Bible they would see this man as he is... a false apostle. We pray that they do.

Here is another example of the darkness they are in:

"The * Functional Spirits are as the needle which glides along the record, not controlling what is recorded, but simply being instrumental in producing what was engraved thereon. There are thousands of * Functional Spirits within our body which read the imprint on the signature and oversee physical, emotional, and intellectual growth in accord with these things that have been determined by God."

WOW!!! Functional Spirits??? This must be another "coined" phrase that Eric made up, because it certainly is not from the Bible. We wonder! Is there anything this man could say that those following him would not believe? This man and his followers have opened themselves up to demonic influences. The Bible has a lot to say about testing the Spirits whether they are from God or not, apparently they have not tested these spirits. How very sad that this false apostle, and those following him believe they have "thousands of functional Spirits" living inside them. We who believe and follow Jesus Christ have one Spirit living in us and He is the Holy Spirit... "O foolish Galatians! (followers of Eric) Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?" (Gal 3:1)

The next quote is from "founders biography". You can find the link on S8W home page, a little under their picture. We have quoted a little more than usual, but we think you will see why.

"Eric saw that false promises, manipulative practices, and poor spiritual development models have an adverse affect on mental health. He understood the signs of spiritual trauma in a day when few people did. Distress, anguish, misery, pain, and anxiety are now recognized by the health profession as signs that can be associated with spiritual crisis. People spiral into depression, confusion, frustration, and anger when they feel their connectiveness to God has been severed. His own calling towards remedy opened the door for profound spiritual enlightenment.

Devoting his life to this call, he formed a Wellness Diagnostic Application that is thorough, and a Wellness Diagnostic Approach that is personal and individualized, yet broad enough to address a wide range of religious as well as spiritual problems. After 25 years of Investigative Research, Eric's Spiritual Wellness and Recovery Program is being proven as a successful approach to aiding persons who are experiencing a disconnection to God, a spiritual hunger or religious disorientation, or other psychological or paranormal phenomena.

This study and research is the doctoral thesis upon which Eric bases his qualifications. The Diagnostic System also provides the much needed rehabilitation for those who have been spiritually abused. Through the unique faith based research, Second 8th Week Ministries is able to offer a spiritually prescriptive program for mental and emotional wellness.

Maria, Eric's wife of 30 years, shares Eric's dream and was instrumental in taking his research notes and building them into an academic Spiritual Diagnostic & Wellness Program. They envisioned and launched Second 8th Week Ministries, introducing a global plan to facilitate the Training and Recovery program that was born from the research. The program brought years of personal triumph to them both. The reality matched the ideal.

From 1999 to the present, Eric and Maria vonAnderseck have taken this unique and highly individualized faith based remedial and recovery program to the public through Distance Learning. They built 5 web sites, 2 discussion boards, and visited over 200 public internet discussion boards and groups, building relationships and providing the message of spiritual hope and recovery. Over 100,000 visitors have come to the web sites from nearly every country in the world.

The testimonials soon began to pour in. People of different races, religions, cultures, and ages around the globe were sharing their need for help, sharing their distress and anguish, their misery, pain, and anxiety. They were depressed, confused, and frustrated with the religious community; many were angry. People were in religious and spiritual crisis, experiencing forms of distress associated with spiritual practices and experiences, desperately seeking to embrace a proven and tested program that would reconnect them to God and to one another, answer their spiritual questions, and provide the spiritual well being they were looking for. The results are lasting because the program is sustainable.

To their credit Eric and Maria have provided both the literature, teaching, and counseling time free of charge. In addition, Eric has published more than 60 investigative articles on the internet documenting the existence of religious and spiritual problems and their root causes. Together they have designed and implemented a strategic course to engage themselves more deeply into service to the community. In March 2003 they formed a nonprofit corporation called "Second 8th Week Ministries" and gained copyright protection for the research which is now built into 100 plus lessons, along with a complete and comprehensive glossary. They then began to organize and train program counseling staff, and gained the needed 501 © (3) tax exempt status. As of March 2004 in the last 15 months, the staff has contributed almost $700,000.00 worth of pro-bono work for Second 8th Week Ministries. We are thankful for their dedication.

The next step is to establish a central Training and Recovery Center that meets the highest standards of excellence on a university education level. Plans for the Second 8th Week University are under way to facilitate the global distribution of this unique faith based, spiritual wellness program that is built on inclusiveness, mercy, and hope.

We invite you to join us in this global vision of remedial training and spiritual recovery."

Jesus said, "out of the heart the mouth speaks" (Mt 12:34). All we see in the above quote is pride, and self righteousness! No mention of Jesus at all, no glory to the Lord. It is all about Eric & Maria and the great ministry they have built. Galations 5:20 lists selfish ambition as one of the deeds of the flesh. A true follower of Jesus, especially an apostle, does not toot his own horn. The Bible has alot to say about people who parade themselves in this manner (1Cor 13:4, Prov 8:13, Prov 10:9 etc..).

Now, Let’s compare what you just read in the above quote with what a real Apostle said about himself, the Apostle Paul.

Phil 3:4b-14 Please read on.

"If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless. But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, And may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; In order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Look at the stark contrast! Look at the difference between a false apostle and a true Apostle of Jesus Christ. Paul did not boast in what he accomplished, or who he was. In fact he called it "rubbish" compared to knowing Jesus as his Lord. Paul didn't use lofty language, in fact in another portion of scripture he says that he didn't come to them with persuasive words, or superiority of speech (1Cor 2:1-5). A true follower of Jesus should never boast of what he is or was in this world, we are to bring glory to God. It is not about Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Evangelists, or Pastors. It is not about church government or any gifts we may have. It is all about Jesus Christ! Not positions, titles, or who we think we are. We are nothing compared to Him.

One thing we do not want to overlook is that they are planning a "central Training and Recovery Center" (last paragraph in the above quote). Is this where all their followers are planning on moving to? This sounds a lot like Waco, and Jim Jones cult behavior to us. This is very alarming, we fear for these people. It doesn't matter what they call it. They can give it any nice name they want, but all it will be is a brainwashing, cult community. We know these are strong words we are using, we do not use them lightly. We pray these people will wake up, that the Lord Jesus would remove whatever is blinding them to the truth of the gospel.

In conclusion:
Eric & Maria vonAnderseck have created for themselves, and for their followers a grand illusion, a mirage. This playhouse has been built on sand. This house looks harmless and inviting from the outside, but once you get in the door you will realize there is no firm foundation (Jesus Christ the rock) you are just standing on a pile of man made sand. A thirsty man will drink anything! A drowning man will grab hold of anything. But there is only One who can give Living Water, only One that can save you from drowning. Man did not create the Living Water, and man did not create or think up salvation, therefore man can not give it. Beware of anyone who says they can give you something only God Himself can give you.

Only Jesus can bring you out of this mirage, and set you back into the oasis of His love.
Let the Lord speak to you through these scriptures. Not what the false apostle has said about them, but what they say of themselves.

Acts 16:30b-31
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They said, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Romans 10:9
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
John 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."
Eph 2:8-9
"for by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
John 14:6
"Jesus said, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Me."

*Jeremiah 22:13-17
Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness
And his chambers by injustice,
Who uses his neighbor's service without wages
And gives him nothing for his work,
Who says, 'I will build myself a
wide house with spacious chambers,
And cut out windows for it
Paneling it with cedar
And painting it with vermilion.'
"Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink,
And do justice and righteousness?
Then it was well with him.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy;
Then it was well.
Was not this knowing Me?" says the Lord.
"Yet your eyes and your heart are
for nothing but your covetousness,
For shedding innocent blood,
And practicing oppression and violence."
